Message from the Program Director
As the Program Director, I would like to welcome you to the Advocate General Surgery Residency Program. Our Program offers a diverse training environment with rotations at two busy institutions. Being situated in Chicago, the residents are exposed to many different patients and disease processes as well as cultural backgrounds. They experience a wide breadth of general surgery cases as well as complex, specialized cases throughout the different rotations. Our goal is to fully train physicians to become competent and skilled surgeons capable of independent practice once graduating the program and to assist in obtaining fellowships in surgical fields if desired.
There are numerous research opportunities for the residents at both institutions. In addition, the didactic program consists of weekly lectures based on the SCORE curriculum, Morbidity and Mortality conferences, and simulation labs. We have 2 state of the art simulation suites that allows the residents’ hands-on experiences ranging from bedside procedures to laparoscopic and robotic training.
We welcome your questions about our program, and we look forward to the opportunity to be a part of your journey in becoming a general surgeon! If we can provide any additional information about our general surgery training program, please feel free to contact us.
